Facts:

The university has recently moved up the deadlines for scheduling of next year's fall classes to overlap with the December break. Many faculty have concerns over this measure, which was intended at least in part to facilitate a combined summer/fall registration. Faculty are interested in moving back scheduling deadlines to their original dates in order to better prepare for the upcoming terms and take enrollment data into account.

Action:

Therefore, be it resolved, that the senate will ask the registrar's office to consult with the senate to explain the reasons behind moving the scheduling of classes to an earlier date. After this consultation, the senate should consider requesting the scheduling deadlines to be moved back to their original dates to better facilitate faculty involvement and enrollment data in class scheduling.

Final Action Taken:
referred to college senates to determine if there are local issues
