Dr. Joe Wilson served as an associate professor in the School of Kinesiology, Allied Health and Human Services at the University of Northern Iowa from 1985 until his retirement in 2017. During his time at UNI, Dr. Wilson made a difference in the lives of his students and earned the respect of his peers. He was a tireless advocate for his students in therapeutic recreation and leisure. Dr. Wilson and his legion of volunteer students were especially involved with Special Olympics. This year marks the 50th year that he has served as a volunteer, leader, and cheerleader for Special Olympics. Dr. Wilson was a superb colleague who will be missed by all who knew him. Thank you for your many years of service to the University and community.
