Whereas the Director of Intnercollegiate Athletics recently announced that he wants to remodel West Gym for wrestling, and
Whereas academic programs, including but not limited to UNI Museum, Department of Theatre, and Department of Communication Science and Disorders, especially the speech/hearing clinic, are in severe need of additional space

Therefore, be it resolved that the Faculty Senate recommend to the President, his Cabinet, and the Facilities Planning Advisory Committee that West Gym be reserved for academic purposes, and that any remodeling of the building be done with only those purposes in mind.
