Requiring V.I.D.S. Training for Faculty Members

Facts:

Good afternoon,

NISG Senate passed a resolution last year urging faculty members to take the Violent Incident Defense Strategies training put on by UNI Public Safety. This training teaches individuals on what to do in the event of an active shooter on campus. I talked to Scott Peters today and he told me that the resolution was not actually sent to faculty leadership. I have attached NISG's resolution to this petition. NISG believes that this training would be very beneficial in the case of an active shooter on campus, and we encourage all faculty members to take this training. We would like the faculty leadership to examine the possibility of requiring this course be taken by all faculty members on campus.

Thank you,

Eric Boisen

NISG Speaker of the Senate
