Whereas:
1. The faculty handbook codifies "faculty leadership" as consisting of the Senate chair, the faculty chair, and the UF president.
2. The faculty Senate reserve seats for members of various groups (administration and students) to have permanent seats at the Senate as observers who take part in public discussion but do not take part in executive sessions or have voting rights.
3. The current state of affairs has created more overlap between matters considered by UF and the Senate.
4. The faculty Senate maintains two mailing lists for communication, one of which includes these observers (facultysenate@uni.edu) to take part and another reserved only for senators (onlysenatorsonly@uni.edu).
5. The faculty Senate invites the president, provost and faculty chair to have an opportunity to speak at the start of Senate meetings.
6. The faculty chair is an ex officio member of the senate, leaving only UF as a body with faculty leadership roles not present at the senate.
