Update to Free Speech Syllabus Statement
In March, #4b of the Board of Regents Directives on DEI was voted on to become Board Policy. 4b states "No employee, student, applicant, or campus visitor is compelled to disclose their pronouns". As part of a larger effort to communicate this policy across campus, revisions are proposed to the Free Speech Syllabus statement where a sentence is added that states "Anyone may choose to voluntarily disclose their own pronouns, but no employee, student, applicant, or campus visitor is ever compelled to do so". Suggested Modifications to the Criteria for Regents Award for Faculty Excellence
In the past two years, some questions have come up from the committee convened to examine nominations for the Regents Award for Faculty Excellence.
1. Should the college senates, who are asked to obtain nominations, also be asked to judge the candidates in any way?
2. Should the candidates nominally hold the rank of full professor?
3. In addition, should teaching evaluations be required?
