University Level Student Learning Outcomes for Consideration
There are three recommended university level student learning outcomes that have been developed by a committee appointed by the provost. These have been approved/endorsed by all college senates at UNI and also reviewed by the University Curriculum Committee as well as the Council of Department Heads.
Proposal: Elimination of the additional thirty-two credit hour requirement for UNI students seeking a concurrent undergraduate double degree (two different degrees, such as a B.S. and a B.A. or a B.A. and a B.Music)
Whereas, students pursuing a double degree (two different degrees, BA and BS for example) must earn thirty-two credit hours beyond the hours required for the primary degree. This does not apply to double majors (for example, BA in Biology and BA in Chemistry).
Regents Award for Faculty Excellence
Whereas, the Faculty Awards Committee has met and decided upon recommendations for recipients of the Regents Award for Faculty Excellence.
College of Education Curriculum Proposal 2017-2018
Whereas the College of Education has submitted a package of curriculum proposals for Catalog year 2017-2018, all of which are recorded on UNI Curriculum Online; and whereas all of these proposals have been reviewed by the University Curriculum Committee or by the Graduate College Curriculum Committee and the Graduate Council;
Revisions to Curriculum Handbook - Fall 2016
Whereas, the UCC and GCCC were scheduled to annually review and revise the Curriculum Review Process Handbook to evaluate current procedures to make the processes and actions of a one-year curriculum cycle more clear.
Resolution in support of Chapter 20
Whereas the status of the rights and freedoms for individuals working in the public sector to engage in collective bargaining under chapter 20 of the Iowa code is currently in question.Whereas the faculty of UNI have chosen to exercise their rights to engage in collective bargaining.Whereas the attached statement from the Chair of the Faculty affirms support for continuing the rights for individuals working in the public sector to engage in collective bargaining and opposes elimination or reducing the rights currently outlined in Chapter 20 of the Iowa code.
Priority Registration - Military and Veteran Students
1. UNI has clearly made veteran student issues a priority. We are established as a Best for Vets school in the Military Times Best for Vets: Colleges 2016 and Military Times’ Best for Vets: Business Schools 2016 rankings as well as a Top School in the 2016 MAE&T Guide to Colleges & Universities research study. 2. Many of our student-veterans are currently serving in the National Guard or the Reserves.
