Motion to support language on shared governance in Master Agreement

Whereas, shared governance is vital to a healthy university;and, Whereas, the University Faculty Senate is the principal representative agency of the faculty;and Whereas, United Faculty has proposed that the following language be inserted into the Master Agreement:Section 1.2 Shared Governance:The Iowa Board of Regents and United Faculty recognize the unique roles and responsibilities of the University of Northern Iowa Faculty Senate.

Resolution to Exempt Faculty Work from the University Relations Style Manual Requirements

Whereas Faculty create a wide variety of original materials as they fulfill their teaching, scholarship and service responsibilities to the University;
Whereas Faculty are the most appropriate individuals to determine how those materials are designed given the specific goals for which the Faculty have designed those materials;
Whereas the Visual Identiy and Style Guide was created by The Office of University Relations, a non-academic unit of the University;

EPC Recommendation regarding changes to the Electronic Devices Policy

The EPC has meet regarding the request by the President's Cabinet to modify the Electronic Devices Policy.  Specifically, Tim McKenna stated the following in an email to Scott Peters and EPC Chair Gayle Rhineberger-Dunn, dated August 10, 2012.  "...the President and Cabinet want the policy to include the emergency/safety-related statement or language in the policy as soon as possible, but no later than the end of the fall semester 2012."  The safety-related statement or language refers to a "language in the policy that said the instructor should allow some means of emerg
