During the fall semester of 1976 the faculty senate developed and approved a process for conduction the evaluation of upper level administrators. This process has been in place since then and calls for the evaluation of administrators every five years (see attached).
Because the 2019-2020 academic year is the fifth year for our current provost, under existing procedures, it is time to initiate the review process. While this process initiates automatically, this would be a good time for the senate to review the existing procedures in executive session.
Therefore, after having reviewed the administrator review procedures established in 1976, be it resolved that the Faculty Senate renews its approval for those procedures and instructs the Faculty Chair to continue to direct that process as originally designed. Moreover, procedures were updated to add the United Faculty President to the committee and to clarify that Associate Provosts, in addition to the Provost and President, would be reviewed by the faculty committee after every 5 years of service.
Whereas, the Faculty Awards Committee has met and decided upon recommendations for recipients of the Regents Award for Faculty Excellence.
Therefore, be it resolved that the Senate will approve the committee's recommendations; be it further resolved that discussion of nominees will take place in executive session of the Senate.
